What We Do (The Condensed Version!)

What Sports are Available to your Athlete

Football 5 th thru 8 th grade boys join other Catholic elementary schools to compete against other parochial schools. There are two teams comprised of 5 th & 6 th grades and 7 th & 8 th grades. Practice and camps begin prior school starting.

Volleyball *4 th thru 8 th grade girls compete in the KC Parochial league. Practices begin just after school starts. City Championships for 5 th – 8 th grade are held in early November.

* K thru 3 rd grade volleyball is offered to girls and boys; teams are coed. The goal is to learn the basics of the sport, sportsmanship, and to have fun. 3 rd grade girls begin preparing for competitive inter-parish play.

Basketball *4 th thru 8 th grade girls and boys play in the KC Parochial League. Practices begin mid – late November with parochial league play starting in early January. Pre-season tournaments are available and City Championships are held at the end of the season February/March. *In 2007, our 8 th grade and one 5 th grade boys’ team placed second in their City Championships. Our 4 th grade girls also placed 2 nd in a post-season tourney.

*K thru 3 rd grade basketball is offered to girls and boys; teams are coed. Nativity offers inter-parish play. More than 70% of our K-3 kids played last year!

Track 4 th thru 8 th grade girls and boys compete against other parochial schools. Practice begins in March. * Nativity still holds three records in the parochial league!

Fund Raising Events

Baking rolls at Thanksgiving and Easter, concession and admission proceeds, athletic apparel sale, and dollar and sweat donations! Come out and cheer for Nativity Nighthawks!

Goal

The goal of the Nativity Athletic Committee is to provide the opportunity for the youth of our Christian community to grow psychologically, emotionally and spirituality in the image of Christ through the benefits of a positive athletic experience; as well as assist in the development of their athletic skills and values such as hard work, humility, responsibility, teamwork and good sportsmanship.
